DISPLACED (Working Title): In Production
Initially set out to be a feature-length documentary, DISPLACED, takes viewers inside the close-knit and often misrepresented Somali-American community of the twin cities of Minneapolis-St. Paul, Minnesota. With years of research, the project has now been fashioned as a series of webisodes. An introduction to the vibrant and lively community of Little Mogadishu, the stories unfold amidst ongoing FBI investigations into the disappearance of at least twenty local youths allegedly recruited for war efforts in Somalia. With exclusive access to families, activists, community organizers and other key community figures, and with the ongoing geopolitical matters at hand, at home and abroad, DISPLACED reveals the tragic impact of war and its capacity to reach across borders, impacting the lives of those who have attempted to move on.
